Brightside Events Announces the 5th Annual Doggie Derby April 28th 2012
Grab Fido and participate in friendly competition during this family friendly event. Sans dog? Enjoy the races from the sidelines and take part in the festivities.
Orlando, Fla., (February 25, 2012) – Brightside Events, a local non-profit organization, announces the 5th Annual Doggie Derby to be held in Orlando, April 28, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
The Doggie Derby is an event where canines compete in a captivating 25-yard sprint race among dogs of a similar size. The dogs are divided into four weight divisions: featherweight, lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight. The winner of each race advances to the next round until there are champions in each of the four weight divisions. Trophies will be awarded to the champion of each weight class, and the overall winner will receive the grand prize. Dog owners are invited to enter their pets in this competition.
All proceeds benefit the Stock the Pantry program, the ultimate grassroots campaign. Brightside Events board members, with the help of local school guidance counselors, identify Central Florida families in need and provide them with non-perishable food items allowing families to “Stock the Pantry.”
