This charity event takes place every year on the morning of the Kentucky Derby and involves an engaging 25 yard sprint race among dogs of similar size. The 4th Annual Doggie Derby is a single elimination head-to-head competition in heavyweight, middleweight, lightweight and featherweight divisions.
Dog owners are invited to enter their pets in this competition. The champion of each weight class receives trophies and prizes.
This family-friendly event features many other activities for pet lovers and their four-legged companions. At the 4th Annual Doggie Derby, participants can enjoy children activities, live music, local cuisine, canine caricatures & photos, face painting and a performance by the Young Marine Color Guard. Even if you don’t have a pet, you can still enjoy the festivities and participate to this annual pet event that gives dogs and their owners a chance to compete.
All of the profits of the event are donated to The Sebastian Haul Fund. If you attend the 4th Annual Doggie Derby at Baldwin Park, you will have the chance to meet local pet retailers and artists.
Families and pet owners can shop for dog accessories, interact with other dog owners, make friends and have fun. Don’t hesitate to take your kids, because they will enjoy Kid Zone activities and seeing adorable dogs of all different breeds.
